12 FINANCIAL
HURDLES
Retiment Issues Unique to Woman

12 Financial Hurdles Women Face, and How to Overcome Them

Though inherently unfair, women often don't get the financial education they deserve and need in order to be financially successful. We want to provide you with that financial education.

According to the Social Security Administration, once both genders reach age 65, the lifespan of a man is 84 while the lifespan of a woman is 86. These numbers are median statistics and take into account the entire population of the U.S.. It is acknowledged that those who possess higher incomes and higher levels of education, tend to live longer than those who are not so fortunate. Therefore, you need to assess your personal situation and perhaps add a few more years onto the numbers just mentioned.

Financial Planning FAQ

1. What's included in your financial planning service?

Financial planning can cover a single focus area or a comprehensive plan. Single-area planning includes things like retirement income planning, budgeting and cash flow, Social Security maximization, goal planning, education planning, or general investment advice. A comprehensive plan brings all of these together into one cohesive strategy tailored to your full financial picture.

2. How much does financial planning cost?

A single area of planning, such as retirement planning or Social Security maximization, starts at $1,000 and increases with complexity. A comprehensive financial plan covering all aspects of your finances starts at $3,500 and typically doesn't exceed $5,000. Once paid, planning services are available for 12 months at no additional cost, including phone consultations and meetings.

3. Who is financial planning best suited for?

Financial planning is best suited for anyone who wants clarity on where they stand financially and a clear path forward, whether that's a single question, like when to claim Social Security, or a full picture covering retirement income, investments, and goals. We work primarily with single, widowed, and divorced women ages 45–85 navigating major financial decisions.

4. How does the financial planning process work?

We start with a short, no-cost introductory call to see if we're a good fit. From there, we take a 48–72-hour reflection period before a follow-up call to confirm the fit is right. If it is, we move into a needs analysis to understand your specific goals and values before any planning begins — a process we call Financial Life Planning, built on asking questions and listening first.  Financial Life Planning helps you identify your core values as they relate to your money, thereby giving you a greater sense of fulfillment.

5. What's the difference between fee-only and fee-based financial planning?

Fee-only advisors are compensated solely by the fees clients pay them, with no commissions from selling products. Fee-based advisors may charge fees and also earn commissions on certain products they recommend. The distinction matters because it affects potential conflicts of interest.  Retirement Solutions has decided to remove the conflict of commissions and sales charges by not offering products that provide such compensation. We are only paid by you as the client, and our fees are always transparent to you.

6. What results should I expect from financial planning?

You should walk away with a clear picture of where you stand financially, a plan aligned with your personal values and goals, and confidence in decisions around retirement income, Social Security timing, and investments. Many clients describe the process as shifting them from financial apprehension to a sense of control and purpose.
